As part of the new global ratings policies, ZKC has designated certain facilities as Major and Local Competency Training Plan (LCTP) areas. Major is defined as any Class B airspace, and for ZKC these are Kansas City International (MCI) and St.Louis International (STL). Our LCTP areas are defined as Tulsa International (TUL), Whiteman (SZL) and Vance (END) Air Force Bases.
All ratings will be conducted in accordance with VATSIM/VATUSA training standards. Certification requirements for major and LCTP facilities will consist of the following additional requirements.
Major and LCTP - Each certification will consist of a 25 question written exam requiring a minimum 80 percent passing score and will test their basic knowledge and knowledge of local procedures (SOPs and LOAs). Upon passing the written exam, controllers will participate in an OTS conducted by a ZKC instructor on the VATSIM sweatbox server or, if traffic warrants, on the main network. During the OTS exam, controllers will be expected to demonstrate core competencies (basic ATC procedures, i.e., phraseology, proper vectoring techniques, and separation of aircraft). Approach training will also include modules on uncontrolled airport operations conducted on the VATSIM Sweatbox server.
Before being certified at Center, controllers should familiarize themselves with the military operations SOP posted on the ZKC training website (http://www.geocities.com/jtholt0016/ZKC_Training_Main or from the downloads page at www.zkcartcc.net). Controllers will be scheduled for the 50 question Center exam requiring a minimum 80 percent passing score. The exam will consist of questions related to basic knowledge, military ops, uncontrolled operations, SOPs and LOAs. Following successful completion of the written exam, controllers will participate in an OTS exercise on sweatbox to work on sequencing techniques. Upon completion, controllers will be certified to work any ZKC Center position.
Controllers visiting ZKC may staff any position for which they are certified except for those serving designated major or LCTP facilities. This restriction also applies to ZKC Center.

While we transition to a new website, all SOPs and LOAs may be downloaded from either the training site at http://www.geocities.com/jtholt0016/ZKC_Training_Main or from downloads section of a temporary index page located at http://www.zkcartcc.net.

As many have pointed out, the link to the forums on this website is currently broken. As I mentioned in an earlier NOTAM, we are transitioning to a new site and the forums have had to be recreated.
I have sent out a couple of e-mails requesting current members to register, but as of today, only 11 members have done so. Please visit forums.zkcartcc.net to register to remain up-to-date on ZKC activities.
If you have tried to register but are having troubles with registration, then please send me an e-mail at zkcatm@zkcartcc.net and I will forward your issue to our webmaster for resolution.
